A man can live without food for two weeks, without water for two days, but he can not live without breathing even for two minutes. On average, a single human being inhales 11,000 liters of air each day (Hartig). Imagine how much pollution you encounter in one day if you live around a major city. Detroit is filled with both air and water pollution. Both affect humans greatly and can eventually cause temporary and permanent diseases.
